Supermarket shoppers have helped raise enough money to enable foodbank organisers to buy their own computer system.
Sainsbury’s in Ryhall Road, Stamford, asked customers to donate food and money to Stamford Foodbank over the Christmas period.
Shoppers were happy to help and donated a total of £474 along with a trolley full of tins and jars.
Foodbank organiser Nicola Dunkin said the money would go towards buying a brand new computer system to help the team do their admin work.
She added: “We are thrilled with the money.
“We need our own computer system. We are using mine at the moment and we do need to get our own.”
Stamford Foodbank gives out food to people referred by doctors and social workers from All Saints and St John’s Church Hall in Scotgate.
Nicola added: “We have had quite an upturn since Christmas and we have now fed 309 people.”
The foodbank is run by volunteers and Nicola is eager to hear from anyone who wants to help out.
She said: “We are always appealing for volunteers. More people have come on board and we are having another training session on the first Wednesday in February.”
If you would like to help, call Nicola on 07570 583799.
