Donation will help brighten up village
Ketton Horticultural Society members Steve Harris, David Heather and Steve Allen plant trees, purchased with money donated by the Chetene Masonic Lodge
A donation by the Freemasons has enabled a society to brighten up a street in Ketton.
The Chetene Lodge of Freemasons donated £100 to the Ketton Horticultural Society towards its work to enhance the village. The money was used to buy Malus Transitoria (cut leaf crab apple) and Glenditsia Triacanthus (honey locust sunburst) trees, which were planted last Saturday morning by society president Steve Harris, chairman David Heather and vice-chairman Steve Allan.
A resident provided the three with refreshments while they were carrying out the work.
The society chose the High Street as the location for the planting as two trees which were removed due to disease had left the area looking “barren”. It is hoped the trees will provide a canopy to a bench there.
The society has been busy brightening up the area and beautiful spring flowers have been planted in many corners of the village.
