Driver dies after crash on A606 near Stamford

A DRIVER believed to be in his seventies died early today after a four-vehicle crash on the A606.

The crash happened at about 5.50pm last night near the turn-offs for Ketton and Great Casterton and involved a Rover 114, and three red Vauxhall Corsas.

The driver of the Rover was seriously injured and taken to Peterborough District Hospital where he died early today.

Two drivers of the Corsas were treated at hospital for minor injuries and the driver of the third Corsa was not injured.

Detective Constable David Sharpe of Leicestershire Police said: "The Rover was travelling towards Oakham and the other vehicles were travelling towards Stamford.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw any of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision."
