Drummer Harri joins band with Prodigy's Gizz Butt

A TEENAGER has joined forces with a former member of The Prodigy.

Harri Wright, 16, who is studying for his A-Levels at Robert Manning College, in Edinburgh Crescent, Bourne, will join former Prodigy session guitarist Gizz Butt, 44, by drumming for his band The More I See after a line-up revamp last year.

Young musician Harri said he is excited about his future and said it all started when he spoke to Gizz at a gig in the Met Lounge, Peterborough, in August.

He said: "I asked him if he knew of any bands looking for drummers, and he took my number and said he'd be in touch.

"Out of the blue he came along to a show I was doing with another group called Komatyzed in September. He asked me if I wanted to join his new band, and I jumped at the chance.

"I don't care that he's a bit older, we still have loads in common. It's amazing being around someone as experienced as Gizz.

"It's all a bit crazy, but it's really cool being in a band with a legend such as Gizz."

The group includes members of all different ages. As well as Gizz and Harri, there is bassist Drew Markwick, 19, guitarist James Culver, 22, and singer Peter Ellis, 24.

They will perform at the Hammerfest festival in Prestatyn, Wales, next weekend.

Gizz, who has lives in Peterborough, said: "When I was looking at it I wanted to do something fresh and exciting and give younger musicians a chance. In return they make me feel a bit younger, so it's win-win.

"This line-up is really fresh and exciting, but all the members are all very good musicians, and that is the most important thing. Harri is a great drummer and I look forward to playing with him at the festival and beyond."

Harri, who is studying music, media and geography, added: "It is a great buzz being on stage with Gizz and the other guys, and I think I'm really lucky to get that experience while I'm still young."
