Empingham fete raises £1,250

MEDIEVAL madness kept crowds entertained at Empingham's village fete on Saturday.

Teams from the primary school and church joined forces to host the event which included battle re-enactments, stocks and fancy dress competitions.

The fun day raised 1,250 which will be split between St Peter's Church and Empingham Primary School.

Julie-Anne Hutchinson, who is a member of the Parents and Friends Association, said: "The whole day was wonderful. We thought having a medieval theme would make the fete a bit different and it proved to be really popular.

"The knights put on a great battle show which all the children watched open-mouthed. Everyone got into the medieval spirit and we had some good costumes in the fancy dress competition."

The day also include a grand raffle, tombola, tug of war competition, coconut shy and stalls.
