English Martyrs Academy rewarded for sports initiatives

A school has been given a national award in recognition of its sporting achievements.

English Martyrs Academy, in Oakham, has been awarded Sainsbury’s School Games Bronze Kitemark Award.

The school has coordinated a number sporting initiatives to claim the award including selecting pupils as young ambassadors for sport, who organise and run play sessions at lunchtime and sports events, as well as developing its Olympic legacy programme.

The Kitemark rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and community.
