Youngsters will be able to search shop windows in Stamford town centre to find Easter eggs as part of a charity hunt.
Barnaby and Libby Staniland, of Kesteven Road, Stamford, are organising the hunt to raise money for the Histiocytosis Research Trust.
Their daughter Maisie, three, was friends with Oliver Scholes, who died after a battle with rare blood disorder, haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, in June last year aged two.
The hunt is part of a campaign by Oliver’s parents Andrea and Paul to raise £10,000 for the charity, which researches the condition.
Libby said: “We loved spending time with Oliver and his family so to help their appeal we wanted to organise an event the whole family can enjoy together.”
About 30 Easter eggs will be hidden in shop windows in Stamford town centre, each displaying a letter. To be in with a chance of winning a prize, entrants will need to rearrange the letters to create a message.
The prizes are a £25 John Lewis voucher, a selection of Easter eggs and a cuddly toy.
Oliver’s dad Paul, also of Kesteven Road, said Barnaby and Libby had been a huge support since Oliver died.
He said: “They have come up with a great fundraising idea to help reach our £10,000 target and I hope lots of people will want to get involved.”
The eggs will be displayed in shops from Friday, March 29, until Monday, April 15.
Entry sheets cost £2 and will be available from the Mercury office in Sheep Market; Bubble and Squeak in High Street and the tourist information centre at Stamford Arts Centre in St Mary’s Street from Friday, March 29.
Entries must be returned to the Mercury office or to 63 Kesteven Road, Stamford, by 5pm on Monday, April 22.
Andrea and Paul have launched a website, where all the details of their fundraising events and sponsors can be found.
