Fence plan moves ahead

PLANS to install steel fencing around Bourne's Abbey Lawn are almost ready to be submitted to the district council.

Bourne United Charities, which owns the town centre land, is keen to get permission for the build – which it is hoped will deter vandals.

Test fencing has already been put up to demonstrate what impact the proposed steel barriers would have.

Terry Bates, chairman of the Abbey Lawn Action Committee, said: “An application will be going in shortly and we are hoping to get the go-ahead.”
