Festival helps raise thousands

SINGERS helped to raise £1,500 for a children's home in India during a village flower festival.

As a contribution to this summer’s flower festival at St James’ Church in Gretton, villager Martin McEvoy got together with other international performers to present An Aria in Your Area.

Mr McEvoy is a regular performer on BBC radio as well as an international opera singer. His concert raised money for the Bethesda Life Centre Children’s Homes in Goa.

The flower festival weekend raised more than 10,500 for St James’ Church.
