Crews from Uppingham were called to two incidents on the A47 near Morcott on Saturday.

At about 5.30pm firefighters were called to reports of one person trapped in a car which had come off the road and into a ditch.

The casualty was released from the car and taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

An hour later fire services were called to a car on fire, also on the A47 near Morcott.

Firefighters extinguished the flames which were believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.

And yesterday (Sunday) a crew from Oakham was called to a van on fire in Teigh Road, Ashwell, at about 9pm.

Firefighters put out the blaze, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
