A fishing demonstration day proved a real catch with youngsters and helped raise £1,160 for charity.

Rutland Spring Fly Fair was held at Uppingham Community College on Sunday and scores of visitors from as far as Nolfolk, Reigate and Worcester came through the doors of the sports hall to the event which was organised by Stuart Illsley of Eyebrook Tackle Shop.

The event featured fly tying demonstrations, discussions about tactics, a display of the latest fishing gear and details of venues for the forthcoming trout fishing season.

The money raised will be donated to breast cancer recovery charity, Casting for Recovery.
