Wednesday, 12pm: Former Bourne Town FC captain Kris Jones remains in hospital following a serious car crash.

Mr Jones was understood to be in “extremely critical condition” at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham earlier this week after the crash on the A1 on Monday last week.

But according to his former club, Mr Jones is making gradual progress. Yesterday @TheWakes2013 tweeted: “Great news to hear Kris Jones is off the life support machine and breathing on his own #keepfightingbigman.”

Sleaford Town FC, where Mr Jones is currently manager, released an update on his condition on Friday last week.

The club said: “The situation with Kris Jones remains extremely critical. He remains in the thoughts and prayers of everybody at the football club.

“The family have asked if they could please not be contacted as this extremely difficult situation is taking it’s toll on them and the time alone is much needed. They thank everyone for their kind messages of support.

“The club will provide updates when available.”
