A young chef has made it through to the second stage of the semi-finals of BBC Two’s MasterChef: The Professionals.

Aaron Ashmore managed to hold his nerve in the show, which was screened last night (Monday) and saw the number of contestants reduced from eight to six.

Now two of the semi-finalists will go head-to-head over the next three nights with one person from each pairing being eliminated before the final three battle it out next week.

Aaron will be on television tonight, screened at 8pm on BBC Two.

Aaron, 21, who works as a chef at Angela Hartnett’s restaurant Murano in London, is originally from Market Deeping, where his family still live,

He gained his qualifications at New College Stamford and learnt his trade at The George Hotel in Stamford, before moving to London to take a job at Gordon Ramsey’s York and Albany restaurant.

Last night, New College Stamford Tweeted: “Fantastic news and another legend from our Hospitality and Catering at New College Stamford.”
