Thousands of competitors braved a brutal assault course at Burghley to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity in this year’s Rat Race event.
The second annual Rat Race Dirty Weekend saw more than 6,000 runners setting off from 8am on 13-mile or 20-mile courses on Saturday (10 May 10).
Billed as the world’s largest assault course, the Rat Race around Burghley Park included the longest set of monkey bars among the 200 obstacles faced by competitors.
The race was won by Jonathan Albon in a time of 2:34:12.
The event was followed by a music festival featuring Radio One DJ Greg James and Reverend and the Makers.
