A woman hosted a coffee and cake morning to raise funds for a charity that has helped her cope with kidney disease.
Evelyn Hirst invited people into her garden in Andrew Road, Stamford, on Saturday last week.
Friends and family turned up to enjoy cakes and a chat while raising funds for the Peterborough Kidney Patients’ Association.
Evelyn, 69, has to undergo regular dialysis treatment and joined the association for support and advice.
She has been a renal patient for some time and said it was an easy decision to join. She added: “I have just started with them but they do a lot of fundraising events.
“They give you advice and organise outings and get-togethers for renal patients.
“It’s nice because you do tend to feel like you are on your own.”
About 20 people turned up to Evelyn’s event and she was astonished when she realised how much had been raised.
She said: “We made £185 which is really good for a back garden event.
“I couldn’t believe it when I counted it up.”
