Ghosthunting author talks about latest book

A WRITER was the special guest at a lunch organised by the Deepings Conservatives.

Author and historian Rupert Matthews gave a speech during the summer lunch, which was held at the Masonic Hall off Bridge Street, Deeping St James.

Mr Matthews told of his experiences ghost-hunting in the county. He has written various books and newspaper columns on the subject and was in the area promoting a new edition of his book Heroes of Bomber Command, Lincolnshire.

The book has a personal significance for him as his father was one of the men who served in Bomber Command during the war.

Mr Matthews stood as a Conservative candidate for the European Parliament in the East Midlands in June.

He was thanked by Deepings MP John Hayes (Con) who enjoyed the lunch with his wife and sons.

Branch chairman Margaret Wilson added that it was an excellent event enjoyed by all.
