Runners are training hard as they prepare to take on 200 obstacles over a gruelling 20-mile course in aid of good causes.
Thousands of people are expected to take part in the Rat Race Dirty Weekend at Burghley House on May 10.
With just over a week to go, those running either the 13 or 20-mile courses are putting in their final training runs ahead of the big day.
Among those taking part is Gareth Jones, a leader with the 2nd Stamford (Town) Scouts. He hopes to complete the full 20 miles to raise enough money to buy new camping equipment.
The 33-year-old engineer, who lives in Wittering, admits he hasn’t done any running since school but is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “Scouting gives so much to children and the adults who help. It offers new experiences and skills for life.
“Some of our equipment is getting worn out and we would like to replace it to be able to take the beavers, cubs and scouts on more trips. I want to make sure money doesn’t hold us back on the activities we can do.”
