A group of friends have presented £1,300 to charity after holding a series of fundraising coffee mornings.

Residents from The Acres and Little Northfields sheltered housing complex in Barnack hold a weekly coffee morning and donate the proceeds to a different charity each year.

The money collected during 2013 was presented to the local branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research last week.

Volunteer helper Val Dawson said: “We were really pleased to hand over so much money which was raised by a small group of just 10 of us.

“We have raised more than £30,000 since we started the coffee mornings.”

The money raised during 2014 will go to the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
