A theatre group is calling for actors and actresses to put themselves forward for a special performance later this year.
Uppingham Theatre Company has been asked to take part in Mobilisation, an event at army base Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore, on June 15, held to mark the anniversary of the First World War.
The group is writing a short play for the event and wants men and women to audition for a number of parts.
The production is called After the Ball is Over and is written by Lynn Brittney.
Those interested in taking part should attend a read through of the play at the Old School, Oakham School, on Thursday, March 13, at 7.30pm. To book a place or for more information, call Joy Everitt on 01572 723393 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mobilisation will mark the county’s commemoration of the First World War.
It is being promoted by Arts for Rutland and will feature live performances from local bands, choirs and orchestras, a series of displays from museums and collections, and an area where children can play games that were popular in 1914. Cadets from Rutland will be on parade and children from primary schools in the county will perform a specially commissioned set of songs titled Wildflower Meadows.
