A group which organises sailing events for those with disabilities is calling for people to attend one of its calendar events.

The Friends of Rutland Sailability is holding its annual reception at Rutland Water Sailing Club on Wednesday, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The theme of the evening is This Sporting Life, and will include presentations from two disabled sports people, Richard Allcroft, an active member of Great Britain’s wheelchair rugby team, and Christine Spray, one of the group’s disabled sailors.

Both will focus on the positive effect that active participation in their sports has had on their lives.

A spokesman for the group said: “This is the fourth year of our successful receptions and it promises to be a very lively and absorbing evening. We are pleased that the High Sheriff of Rutland Miles Williamson-Noble, will be joining us.”

Tickets are £15 each, which includes wine and canapés. Call treasurer Jim Fleming on 01780 763359, or e-mail flemingjandb@msn.com
