A number of workshops are being held to help shape a local development strategy for rural areas of the county.

Rutland County Council and an organisation called Opportunity Peterborough are leading a bid for funding to support land-based industries, micro or small businesses, rural services, tourism, cultural and heritage activities.

The bid is being made as part of the Rural Development Programme, funded by the European Agricultural Fund and Defra. The council is keen to involve local people, organisations and businesses in planning a strategy for the 2014 - 2020 LEADER programme.

The workshops are being held at Greetham Community Centre, from 3.30pm to 5pm on Thursday next week for those involved in farming and small business, at Barnack village hall, from 3.30pm to 5pm on Thursday, July 3, for those in tourism and heritage activities, and at Rutland County Museum, from 9am to 10.30am on Monday, July 7, for those in rural services.
