Headteacher and councillor named in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

A headteacher, a town councillor and a farmer were among those named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list today (Saturday).

Cherry Edwards, who is the headteacher at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy, was made an OBE for services to education.

George Morley, of Teigh, received a BEM for services to Oakham Rugby Club and to the community in Teigh.

Oakham town councillor Joyce Lucas also received a BEM for services to the community in Oakham.

Also receiving a BEM was Katherine Hull, secretary of the Leicestershire and Rutland Branch of SSAFA, for services to veterans and their families and Lt Col Cecil John Lawson, (Ret’d), a civilian assistant with the Leicester, Northants and Rutland Army Cadet Force, for voluntary service to the Army Cadet Force. (Leicestershire).
