Help available to keep residents warm in Rutland
Residents in Rutland who are vulnerable to cold can get a free boiler servicing and repairs where required this winter following a successful bid for funding from the Department of Health.
The grant funding will also continue and extend the work of the Energy Action for Rutland project, where staff visit homes and help people reduce their energy costs and stay healthy.
In partnership with Change Agents UK, Voluntary Action Rutland and other organisations, Rutland County Council will also help improve energy efficiency and the safety of existing central heating systems where the householder is on a low income.
Coun Roger Begy (Con), who is in charge of housing for the council, said: “By working with the Energy Action for Rutland team, households will be able to save money and get the help that they need to stay warm and safe this winter.”
Also available under the scheme are insulation measures.
There will also be emergency fuel provision for residents in accommodation heated by coal, wood or bottled gas, where they have run out of fuel and cannot afford to buy any more.
