People are being urged to give up some of their time to help prepare Bourne Outdoor Pool for the summer season.
The popular attraction at the Abbey Lawn doesn’t open to the public until May but ahead of that, there is lots of work to be done to make sure it is up to standard for the hundreds of swimmers who make use of the near Olympic sized heated pool every year.
Paula Biggadike is the secretary of the management team which runs the pool.
She said: “We are always looking for volunteers and we are grateful for the help of anyone who has got some time to spare, even if it’s just an hour.”
Paula said volunteers normally work at the pool doing maintenance jobs on Saturdays but anyone who has some time to give during the week should not be discouraged from lending a hand.
Last year the pool was named in the 30 Best Lidos in Britain in a feature run in The Times newspaper. Staff at the pool also carried out essential repair work to the bottom of the pool, which was completed after a donation from the organisers of the town’s BRM Day the previous year.
Volunteers are hoping for an equally successful year during 2014. Anyone who wants to help should call Paula on 01778 422804 and leave a message.
