SUPERHEROES are needed to take part in a world record attempt.

Lorraine Wise, 53, of Wilkie Drive, Folkingham, needs 300 willing participants to break the record for the number of people dressed as Superman taking part in a three-minute dance.

The effort will raise funds for first aid group Lives First Responders, for which she is a volunteer.

The dance will take place on Saturday, May 5, in the car park at the North Kesteven District Council office in Sleaford, where Lorraine works as a post room officer.

She said: “My aim is for us to beat the world record that was set by the 282 people who took part in the Superman dance in Barcelona in 2010.

“I’m hoping we can also raise some money for Lives for the area I cover, which is Folkingham and Sleaford.

“Any money raised will go towards the upkeep of our life-saving equipment like the defibrillators.”

The dance incorporates a set routine to Black Lace’s song “Superman”.

Lorraine said: “It will hopefully bring a lot of people together for a fun time.”

First Responders are community volunteers trained and equipped to provide basic life support or use defibrillators, after being called out by ambulance control, to patients suffering cardiac.

Call Lorraine on 01529 497605 or e-mail lorraine-wise@ fsmail.net if you would like to take part.
