More than 300 people poured through the doors of a jobs show in Peterborough in its first few hours.

Organisers of the Job Show at the Marriott Hotel, Lynch Wood, Peterborough said the event was their best ever with more than 400 jobs on offer.

A varied array of companies and organisations had representatives at the event.

They included New College Stamford, furniture giant Ikea, Coca-Cola, Peterborough Regional College, the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Trust and housing association Cross Keys Homes, which sponsored the event.

Caroline Connaughton, managing director of the jobs show organisers, Connaught Media, said: “We had 120 visitors in the first hour alone.

“At one point people were queuing to get in.

“We have done four job shows in one year and I think this is our best one.

“There is a huge range of jobs here and I think there is something for anyone who wants a job.”

Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson said that the successful event had been very impressive.
