A FAMILY tea room is back in business, the way it was intended.

Kate Baines, 27, has taken over Baines’ Tea Room in High Street West, Uppingham, which was started by her grandmother Dora Baines in 1965.

The tea room is next door to Baines’ Bakery which was founded by Senior Baines in 1867.

Kate’s father Richard and mother Karen are still producing fresh bread and cakes from the bakery every day.

Kate, a former Uppingham Community College pupil said: “My grandmother always wanted me to take over the tea room and I have done.

“I’ve transformed it back into the traditional English tea room it was when she ran it.”
