A couple who celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary say their line dancing class is the key to keeping young.

Fred and Nora Gardner, of High Street, Ketton, joined the Age UK class 17 years ago and have been regular members ever since.

Nora, 94, said: “We enjoy the class. It keeps you young and keeps your mind active by having to remember the steps.

“We don’t dance as much as we used to - we only do about half time now but we plan to keep going for as long as we are able to.”

Fred, 93, drives the couple to the class at Uppingham town hall each week.

Age UK co-ordinator Sue Bamber says the couple are an inspiration and testament to the importance of keeping active as you get older.

The couple celebrated their 70th anniversary with a party at Ketton Sports and Social Club.
