Lorraine needs heroes to help break the record for world’s biggest Superman dance

A LIFESAVER is calling on people to join her in the world’s biggest Superman dance to break a world record and raise money for charity.

Lives First Responder Lorraine Wise, 53, of Wilkie Drive, Folkingham, needs 300 willing participants, including people from the Bourne area, to take part in the attempt, which she has organised for May 5.

The three-minute dance will be held in the car park at the North Kesteven District Council office in Sleaford, where she works as a post room officer.

Mrs Wise said: “My aim is for us to beat the work record that was set by the 282 people who took part in the largest Superman dance in Barcelona in 2010.

“I’m hoping we can also raise some money for Lives too for the area I cover, which is Folkingham and Sleaford.

“Any money raised will go towards the upkeep of our life-saving equipment like the defibrillators.”

The dance incorporates a set routine to Black Lace’s song called Superman. Most people will know the song and dance, which is often played at discos.

Mrs Wise hopes to make the event a memorable occasion for everyone who takes part.

She said: “It will hopefully bring a lot of people from everywhere together for a fun time.”

First Responders are community volunteers trained and equipped to provide basic life support and or use defibrillators, after being called out by ambulance control, to patients suffering cardiac arrest, breathing difficulty and choking, collapse and chest pain.

Anyone interested in taking part in the world record attempt can contact Mrs Wise by telephoning her on 01529 497605 or e-mailing her at lorraine-wise@ fsmail.net.
