High winds blew a 44-tonne lorry into a petrol pump.
The driver of the vehicle had a lucky escape after it crashed into a pump at the petrol station on the A47 in Morcott at about 11.55pm on Friday.
The pump was knocked over and the lorry cab was ripped open, smashing the windscreen. The vehicle was wedged under the forecourt canopy, trapping the driver inside.
But a spokesman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said the driver managed to free himself and was not injured in the accident.
The spokesman added: “We received a call that one person was trapped but he had released himself from the vehicle by the time we arrived and was not injured.”
Crews left the scene just after 1am.
