A man died after the car he was working under collapsed on him in Deeping St James, near Peterborough on Thursday (1 May).
Emergency services were called to Bryony Way at 3.20pm, but the man died from his injuries later that afternoon.
A police spokesman said: “It appears the man, who is thought to have been aged 45, had been working underneath his car on the driveway of the property when the jack collapsed and the car fell on top of him.
“Police are treating his death as a tragic accident.
“His next of kin have been made aware and a file will be passed to the coroner for an inquest to be carried out.”
The spokeswoman added: “He was given medical attention by emergency services but could not be saved and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
The file has now been passed on to the coroner, and an inquest will be carried out.
