A man was airlifted to hospital after he was injured in an accident at industrial premises at Woolfox, off the A1 near Stretton Woolfox .
He was working in a grain factory when his arm became trapped in machinery at about 10am today (Tuesday).
East Midlands Ambulance Service and a doctor from East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme were first on the scene. The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was also called out, as well as police and fire and rescue.
Dr Leon Roberts, from the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme, said the man had been freed by his colleagues before paramedics arrived.
He described the man’s injuries as “life-changing”.
The man, 70, was given pain relief and antibiotics. His arm was put in a splint before he was flown to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment, including surgery.
