Man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after fatal A43 crash

A man has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving after a crash in which two men died and a woman and a two-year-old boy were left with serious injuries.

Jurijs Zunda, 42, of Yarborough Crescent, Lincoln, appeared at Northampton Magistrates Court on Friday.

He is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst disqualified and causing death while uninsured following a crash on the A43 at Fineshade, south of Duddington, at about 8.20pm on December 4.

The silver Mazda 5 he was driving collided with a white DAF truck. Two men, aged 21 and 28, both passengers in the Mazda, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman and a two-year-old boy, also passengers in the Mazda, suffered serious injuries.

The woman is being treated at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge while the boy is being treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. They are both in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck was unhurt.

Zunda suffered minor injuries in the crash. He will appear at Northampton Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on December 21.
