Market Deeping Town Council to buy dog bin after six-year-old Grace’s campaign

Councillors are keen to install a dog bin after a campaign by a young girl to clear up her walk to school.

Market Deeping Town Council’s amenities committee voted yesterday (Wednesday) to recommend the purchase of a dog bin to install in an alleyway between The Grove and Bramley Road.

The item was put on the agenda at the request of Coun Paul Cosham, who is also a South Kesteven district councillor, after he read the Mercury’s story about Grace Munton-Hague.

Grace, six, who lives in The Grove, got so fed up with dodging dog mess on her walk to Market Deeping Community Primary School that she put up posters asking pet owners to be more considerate.

Her campaign was taken up by both the town and district councils.

The committee’s recommendation will now go before the full council on April 10 for approval.

Earlier this month the district council put up signs close to the alleyway warning dog owners of their responsibilities.

And now the town council has followed suit by approving the dog bin.

Coun Cosham congratulated Grace on her campaign, adding: “She has shown how to be a good citizen.”
