Market trader still in limbo
A MARKET trader is in limbo after not being told by the council whether or not his licence will be renewed.
Steve Byrne, 44, who sells fruit and vegetables in Stamford's High Street, is uncertain of his future in the town when his temporary license to trade runs out tomorrow.
South Kesteven District Council is yet to make a decision on the license renewal due to an investigation it is undertaking following a complaint which was filed against Mr Byrne by a small independent business, which hasn't been named.
A council spokesman said: "We are continuing to investigate a complaint we have received with regard to Mr Byrne's licence.
"In the meantime he can continue to trade under the agreed terms of his current licence until our investigation is completed later this week."
Mr Byrne's trading days have already been reduced as part of the investigation by two days. He said: "Hopefully by the end of next week everything will be sorted out."
