The first Miss Rutland was delighted by the turnout of women looking to become her successor.

Cara Pereira, 23, of Ranksborough Hall Park, Langham, was given the title in August after impressing judges with her passion for the county during the finals of Miss Leicester.

She held auditions at Catmose Sports Centre on May 2, 3, and 4 to find a Miss Rutland 2014 and thrilled with the level of interest.

Cara said: “We met girls from all corners of the county.

“We were delighted with every girl. They were all really pretty and each had interesting individual personalities that we loved.

“I will be in touch with every girl to let them know if they got through.

“The final will be held late this summer.”

Applications for the competition close on Wednesday, May 21.

The contest is open to women aged 18 to 27 who live within 50 miles of Rutland.

Cara said she was looking for someone who had “the whole package”.

During her year as Miss Rutland Cara has had the chance to get involved with a range of charities and good causes.

She said it had been a fantastic year and she hopes the new Miss Rutland will get to enjoy the same experience.
