Rutland MP Alan Duncan has cut the ribbon to mark the opening of a new post office.

An opening ceremony was held to launch the new-look Oakham Post Office in Martin’s newsagents, High Street, on Friday.

The new branch offers longer opening hours and five serving positions, which are a mixture of two modern screened, two open plan and a Post Office service point at the retail counter.

Mr Duncan said: “This new post office is the perfect solution for Oakham, and I am very happy to have officially opened it. We have not only managed to preserve services in the town, but to extend them with considerably longer opening hours.”

It is now open from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, while the post office service will be available at the retail counter from 7am to 8.30am and 5.30pm to 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and 7am to 8pm on Sunday.
