MP takes up defence role

STAMFORD and Bourne MP Quentin Davies has been handed a Government position with the Ministry of Defence.

Mr Davies is taking up a position as Minister for Defence Equipment and Support. The role will see the MP responsible for helping support the country's armed forces and Mr Davies will be part of a department which has a budget of 13bn.

Other roles of Defence Equipment and Support is to work closely with industry to forge partnership agreements, as well as sustaining ongoing requirements such as food, clothing and medical supplies.

Mr Davies said he was looking forward to taking up his new position. He said: "Our Armed Forces are doing an amazing job in difficult circumstances and my priority will be to do all I can to ensure they get the best possible equipment and logistic support.

"That task is vital. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can, both at home and in operational theatres."
