Murder update: Victim's debit cards used at Stamford and Bourne cashpoints

CREDIT and cash cards belonging to a man stabbed to death were used at cashpoints in Stamford and Bourne.

The body of Alan Wood, 50, was found at home in Lound near Bourne on Saturday.

Detective Superintendent Stuart Morrison is leading the investigation. He said, "We have had a development in the case, it seems that someone, possibly an offender, has made use of Alan Wood's credit and debit cards at cash points in Bourne and Stamford."

On Thursday October 22 between 9.35pm and 9.50pm attempts were made to withdraw cash from the cash machines at the Nat-West bank in North Street, Bourne and the nearby machine at the Post Office in North Street, Bourne. Cash was obtained.

At about 3.15pm on Friday October 23 cash was withdrawn from the cash point at the Nat-West bank in High Street, Stamford.

Two further unsuccessful attempts were made to withdraw cash from the same Nat-West bank in Stamford High Street at 9.10am and again at 9.20pm on Saturday October 24.

The last two known attempts to withdraw cash took place at around 3pm on Sunday, again from the Stamford High Street branch of the Nat-West bank.

Det Supt Morrison said: "I am calling upon members of the public who may have used those cash machines themselves or been in the vicinity of them at the relevant times to make contact with the enquiry team.

"Due to the nature of this incident we cannot rule out the possibility that the offender or offenders themselves sustained cuts or injuries during the attack on the victim.

"Therefore there is a possibility that someone was displaying or carrying some kind of injury which may have been noticed by passers-by when they were using the cash machines."
