An evening networking event attracting nearly 100 business people was the highlight of South Kesteven District Council’s Enterprise Week 2014.
The Total Networking event took place on Wednesday, March 19, at Stoke Rochford Hall, as part of a week of Enterprise Week activities organised by the district council with support from Lincolnshire Chamber, the Federation of Small Businesses, Grantham Business Club and OnLincolnshire.
Welcomed by Darren Joint from Total Networking, Stamford-based entrepreneur and businessman Scott Weavers-Wright delivered a motivational speech of the ups and downs of his business career.
Scott oversaw the transformation of family business Kiddicare from a promising online retailer to an award winning multi-channel force, which was subsequently sold to Morrisons in 2011 for £70m.
He has now launched Haatch, a digital investment incubator business based in Stamford, which provides capital and expertise to digital start up businesses.
Scott said: “If you want to do it and you want to be successful you can make it happen. Get it done today because tomorrow is a new opportunity.”
The evening also incorporated the area finals of the Young Enterprise competition which saw three local schools and colleges present their business plans, which was won by Kesteven and Grantham Girls School.
Other highlights of the week, attended by just under 200 people, were sessions on social media; including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube with motivational business planning and a talk on Intellectual Property.
