New edition of John Clare’s poetry is unveiled

A new edition of work by Helpston poet John Clare has been published by enthusiasts.

Anne Lee and Roger Rowe, pictured above, who are both fans of the poet from Helpston, have published a new edition of his erotic poem The Lovers Meeting.

The work, which was never published during the poet’s lifetime in the 19th century was unveiled at the John Clare Cottage in Helpston.

Barry Sheerman, chairman of the John Clare Trust, said: “It is beautiful poem.”
