A pub chain giant which is set to open its doors in Oakham next month is looking for more applicants for jobs in its kitchen.
More than 80 people have applied for jobs at JD Wetherspoon’s The Captain Noel Newton pub, which is opening in the former Royal British Legion building, in High Street, on November 12.
However, only seven people have submitted applications for vacancies in the kitchen. The pub is looking to recruit 15 staff members in its kitchen.
The pub is creating 45 jobs in total.
The venue will be run by manager Steve McCourt.
Steve, who has 14 years experience in the pub industry, said: “We’ve had 80 applications in total but not a great deal in the kitchen.
“We’re looking for potential chefs who will be given full training before we open.”

JD Wetherspoon is also planning to open a new £1.2m pub in Stamford.
The company has received planning permission to open a venue at the Mercury offices in Sheep Market but is currently in negotiations with South Kesteven District Council over its opening hours.
