Snow fell across the area over the weekend causing havoc on roads in the county.

Several vehicles became stuck in the treacherous conditions but Nigel Spencer, of Leicestershire and Rutland’s rescue scheme Loaders and Roaders, was on hand to help.

Nigel was called out to rescue a police car stuck down an isolated farm track at Withcote, near Market Harborough, on Saturday.

Using a towing cable on his ex-military Land Rover, Nigel managed to get the car back on the main road.

He was also called to Braunston Road, where two off duty police officers were stuck, along with 10 other vehicles, between Braunston and Oakham. Police arrived to provide traffic marshalling and Nigel was able to tow the cars away until the hill was clear.

Nigel said: “It’s great to be able to help people out in tough conditions and I really enjoy it.”
