Oakham fire station is set to be reopened at a ceremony today (Thursday) by chairman of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Steve Corrall.
Dignitaries from across the county will join firefighters to see the redeveloped facility, in South Street, formally opened.
The station will now work under a new duty system called Day Crewing Plus, with full time firefighters working 24 hour shifts, in a bid to save £400,000 a year.
The system requires half as many staff to operate but still provides an immediate 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week response capability.
The redevelopment of the station began in September last year and has cost about £1.8m.
