Oakham set for parade to welcome home troops

SOLDIERS will march through Oakham today in a special homecoming parade.

Troops who have returned to St George's Barracks at North Luffenham from Iraq this month will also attend a service at All Saints Church.

The 32 (Minden) Battery 16th Royal Artillery Regiment will be joined by a 28-strong marching band as they parade along Church Street and High Street at about 10.45am today.

Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Laurence Howard, will take the salute before the soldiers return to their barracks for a medals ceremony.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the parade and show their support.
