This slightly faded picture of an owl in Stamford’s Red Lion Square has attracted hoots of attention since it appeared on Saturday.

The decorative chalk masterpiece was still there today (Wednesday) in spite of earlier frost, rain and snow.

Staff Adrian Dawson and Kelly Davies of jewellery shop Dawson of Stamford said a youngish man spent several hours patiently creating it.

The same man is said to have drawn another picture, also of an owl, in the square about 10 weeks ago.
