Patrols deter pickpockets

A POLICE push to ward off pickpockets has been branded successful after they did not receive any theft reports in Stamford town centre on Friday last week.

Following ongoing concerns about an organised gang operating in High Street during busy periods, police had a CCTV van and extra officers patrolling the streets during last week’s market day.

Police said they had not received any reports of theft in the town centre during that day but urged people to continue to take security precautions.
