Plans to go on show for 120 homes
PLANS are set to go on show for a development of up to 120 new homes in Market Deeping.
Persimmon Homes East Midlands is holding a public exhibition on Friday, next week, to consult with people in the community on its proposals for a housing development in Godsey Lane, Market Deeping.
The developer wants to build up to 120 new homes, two children's play areas and a public open space on the junction of Godsey Lane and Towngate East on open space behind Tesco supermarket.
Land director of Persimmon Homes Daryl Kirkland said: "We are looking forward to consulting with the local community at our public exhibition.
"Members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions and to take on board people's comments.
"All feedback received will be considered by the development team while drawing up their final proposals for an outline planning application, which we hope will be submitted in April."
Persimmon Homes received planning permission from South Kesteven District Council to build 95 homes and a new access road as part of phase one of the scheme. All of the homes in the two phases would be on the same site.
Building work has not yet started on the first 95 homes and Persimmon Homes was unable to say when work would start.
People are invited to view the plans between midday and 8pm at The Towngate Inn in Towngate East, Market Deeping.
Mayor of Market Deeping Mo Tray urged everyone to visit the exhibition.
She said: "Market Deeping Town Council has received an invitation to attend and the vast majority of councillors will be going along, myself included, to have a look at the plans.
"I think residents also need to go along, particularly those people who live within the area so they can have their say on the plans."
Coun Tray said her main concern was access to the new estate and whether Market Deeping had the infrastructure to cope with such a large development.
She said: "I'd be concerned whether there was the health care and the schooling to cope with so many more people but we shall have to wait and see what they say."
