AN ANNUAL produce show was a success despite a drop in entries for certain categories.

Difficult weather conditions through the year lead to a drop in flower entries in the Corby Glen and District Horticultural Society’s show, which took place at the Ron Dawson Memorial Hall in Corby Glen on Sunday.

But entries in other classes were up to the usual standards and organisers were pleased with how the event went.

Society chairman Bryan Grantham said: “This year has not been an outstanding year for produce due to unusual weather patterns, and the show reflected this trend.

“Flower entries were not as high as 2011 but other classes held up well and all in all it was considered a successful show.

“A total of 209 individual entries were made and the judges thought the standards high.”
