A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being seriously hurt in a mystery incident.
Police were called to a home in Perth Road, at the junction with Nairn Road, Stamford, at about 10pm last night (Wednesday), where they found a 56-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The woman was taken to Peterborough City Hospital where she is currently in a critical condition.
A police spokesman said: “The cause of the woman’s injuries is unexplained at this stage and officers are carrying out inquiries in the local area.”
Police carried out door-to-door inquiries on Wednesday evening following the incident.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “It was madness here last night with police sirens and the ambulance.
“It’s normally a quiet road so it’s just a bit of a shock.
“I saw the ambulance go around the back of the house and saw them taking someone out.
“I think it’s something serious.”
